Our Services

For New Patients

Generally, your first appointment will include an examination, diagnostic x-rays and a cleaning. A friendly receptionist who will explain office procedures, gather your medical and dental history, and explain payment procedures, will greet you.

Next, a licensed dental hygienist will clean your teeth, take x-rays and do a periodontal screening exam to assess the health of your gum tissue. X-rays alert us to underlying problems such as tooth decay, abscesses, cysts, tumors and bone loss around the teeth, and are essential in helping the doctor do a thorough exam.

Dr. Ken will then thoroughly evaluate your x-rays, examine your gum tissue, teeth, skeletal structure of the jaw for possible orthodontic care, and screen for cancer. He will then review with you the findings from his exam and discuss any concerns he may have about the overall health of your mouth. If necessary, we will review with you a treatment plan for additional services needed (fillings or crowns for example) and schedule a follow-up appointment for those services.

Preparing For Your First Visit

  • If you are taking more than two medications, please prepare a list of all of your medications along with your dosage (how much you take at one time) and frequency (how often you take it) and bring it with you.
  • If you have insurance, do not forget your insurance card!
    • If your insurance doesn’t give you a card, please be ready with:
      • Name of your insurance company
      • Phone number of your insurance company
      • Policyholder’s name, member ID, and date of birth
  • If you have a health condition that requires pre-medication before dental work (for example, artificial joints), please let us know before you arrive.
    • If you used to require pre-medication but your doctor says you do not need to pre-medicate any more, please bring your doctor’s contact information so that we can clear it with him/her, or a letter from your doctor stating that you do not need to pre-medicate.
